The Church and Society ministry of FUMC MC is committed to proclaiming and exemplifying the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our everyday lives.  This ministry recognizes the holy context in which we live, the holy vision we seek, the holy work we endeavor to do, and the holy blessing we receive.

In light of the heritage of the United Methodist Church and its development of a statement of Social Principles each quadrennium, this committee will develop a process for faithful dialogue regarding the relationship between church and society. We seek to encourage growth through prayer, study, learning, observation, listening, interaction, empathy, and outreach.

In faithful service to God, this committee will ground its efforts in the spirit of discernment, ground its sharing in the spirit of love, and ground its action in the spirit of compassion.

Ours is a justice ministry in the true spirit of the teachings of Jesus, the calling of the Hebrew prophets, and the social justice emphasis of John Wesley. Inspired by these examples, the committee will endeavor to identify concerns which are significant to our community and to facilitate respectful forums for prayerful, thoughtful, and balanced conversation and study. We trust that occasions will arise where compassionate action will be the result.
