Chartered on June 1, 1963 with 87 members, First
United Methodist Church Missouri City developed
from the roots and needs of the people in our
community. Here are a few of the milestones that
we have achieved as a family of faith:
- EASTER SUNDAY 1966
The first Sunday worship was held in a new
fellowship hall at 401 Present Street.
- MARCH 1972
We celebrated the groundbreaking of an
educational wing at the Present Street location.
- DECEMBER 1981
We celebrated our first Christmas season in a
new Present Street sanctuary.
- DECEMBER 1995
We wrote a new chapter in our church's history
when we broke ground for our current church at
the corner of Lexington Boulevard and Murphy
Road.
- MARCH 1997
We held our first worship services in our
new sanctuary, where you'll find us today:
Lexington Boulevard and Murphy Road - where
faith meets life!
- JUNE 2002
The new education wing, additions to the music
suite and administrative offices, offices for
the District Superintendent, and The Chapel of
the Resurrection were dedicated.
In 2003, we dedicated our Memorial Garden and
Columbarium. In 2004, we dedicated the West Woods
Prayer Path and Outdoor Worship Area. And, with
the volunteer efforts of both youth and adults,
our new Crosswalk Youth Center was completed in
early 2006.
